Meet Kristen Young

Hailing from Waco, Texas, Kristen Young is an experienced acute care nurse practitioner with a strong background in both nursing and gastroenterology. She earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Texas Tech University, specializing in acute gerontology and acute care nursing practice. With more than a decade of clinical experience as a critical care nurse, primarily in the ICU, Kristen brings an extensive understanding of acute care and patient management to the field of gastroenterology.

For the past five years, Kristen has focused on gastroenterology, providing expert care for a diverse range of both acute and chronic GI conditions. Passionate about improving the lives of her patients, Kristen finds fulfillment in managing complex GI disorders. From Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis to biliary disorders, she works to ensure her patients understand their condition and feel empowered to take an active role in their care.

As a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the Texas Nurse Practitioner Association, Kristen remains committed to advancing patient care through collaboration, continuous learning, and advocacy. She works closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, dietitians, and pharmacists, to create comprehensive and individualized care plans that promote patient wellbeing and long-term recovery.

Outside of work, Kristen enjoys trail running, competing in races, reading, camping, and spending quality time with her family. Her personal and professional philosophies align around one core principle—doing what is in the best interest of the patient. This includes ensuring each individual’s voice is heard and providing patients with the resources and support they need to thrive.
