Dorothy Cheng, AGACNP-BC

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center

Location:

Georgetown , Shoal Creek - Northwest

Meet Dorothy Cheng

Dorothy Cheng grew up in Austin and studied Electrical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. After working as an engineer for four years, she transitioned into the healthcare field. She attended Columbia University’s School of Nursing, completing the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, before returning to Texas.

Dorothy has been a nurse practitioner for over 10 years, with experience in outpatient pain management, surgical and trauma ICU, inpatient internal medicine, and both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology. She worked in inpatient gastroenterology for four years and has been working in outpatient gastroenterology with Dr. Jangouk for the past two years.

What she enjoys most about gastroenterology is working closely with patients to help them understand their diagnoses and manage their conditions in ways that best fit their individual needs. She recognizes that gastrointestinal symptoms can be difficult for patients to discuss and prioritizes meeting patients at their comfort level to thoughtfully address their concerns.

Outside of work, Dorothy enjoys indoor bouldering, reading fiction across a variety of genres, and spending time with her family.
