Meet Sarah Lear
Sarah has been with Austin Gastroenterology since September 2022. She was born and raised in South Austin. She received a bachelor of science in nursing at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, then went on to complete her master of science in nursing with a family nurse practitioner specialty through Texas State University.
Before completing her graduate degree, Sarah worked in adult critical care at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. Sarah is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing. She chose to work in GI care for the functional aspect of the specialty.
Sarah really enjoys learning about the brain-gut connection and the effect that the enteric nervous system has on digestion. She is passionate about combining lifestyle modifications with medical therapy to improve the lives of patients. With her background in nursing, she is a patient-advocate at heart. She aims to provide a holistic approach to individualized patient-centered care.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys being outdoors, running, resistance training, music, and taking care of her plants.
