Meet Dr. Shivanand Bomman

Dr. Bomman is passionate about gastroenterology because it combines meaningful patient relationships, complex problem-solving, and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives. He enjoys the breadth of the specialty, from preventive cancer screening and treatment of common digestive conditions to managing complex gastrointestinal diseases. He has a particular interest in advanced and interventional endoscopy, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), which allow him to diagnose and treat complex gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary conditions using minimally invasive techniques.

Before specializing in gastroenterology, Dr. Bomman practiced internal medicine and hospital medicine in Las Vegas, Nevada. He went on to complete a research fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Seattle, working alongside internationally recognized leaders in the field. He subsequently completed his gastroenterology and hepatology training at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, followed by advanced training in interventional endoscopy. His diverse clinical experience and specialized training allow him to approach each patient’s needs with a broad medical perspective and a commitment to finding effective, individualized solutions.

Dr. Bomman believes excellent care starts with listening. He takes the time to understand not only his patients’ symptoms, but also their concerns, priorities, and goals. He is committed to making complex medical information easier to understand, discussing treatment options openly, and partnering with patients to develop a plan that feels right for them. Whether addressing a common digestive concern or navigating a complex condition that requires advanced endoscopic treatment, he strives to ensure every patient feels heard, respected, and confident in the next steps of their care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Bomman enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, exploring new places, and trying different foods. He also enjoys sports and maintaining an active lifestyle. Having recently made Austin home, he and his family are excited to explore the city and become part of the local community.

Dr. Bomman speaks Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi in addition to English.
