What to Expect When Visiting Austin Endoscopy Centers

Our endoscopy centers were designed with your comfort and convenience in mind. Here’s what you can expect during your visit to one of our dedicated facilities:

Reception

This will be your first stop at any of our endoscopy centers. Reception is where we receive all our patients. Your information will be verified by a business office associate, and you will be checked in for your procedure.

Our reception area houses a waiting room where friends and family can relax during your procedure.

Pre-Procedure

At this time, you will wait in an equipped room where you'll prepare for your procedure. Upon entering a pre-procedure area, you'll be assigned to a private stretcher bed, where you'll be assessed by a registered nurse. You'll then be connected to a cardiac monitor to measure your heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen level. If your procedure calls for sedation, you may receive some medication to relax while you are in the pre-procedure area.

We encourage your family and friends to join you in this area—as long as you agree. We value your privacy and make every effort to maintain your privacy and confidentiality utilizing HIPAA guidelines.

Procedure Room

This is where we perform procedures aimed at improving your health. Our procedure rooms feature state-of-the-art equipment and all the amenities necessary for successful procedures. A registered nurse will escort you to the procedure room via stretcher. While in the procedure room, you'll be constantly monitored by a registered nurse and cared for by the entire team, under the direction of your physician.

Post-Procedure

A registered nurse will monitor your health immediately after your procedure. We'll work to alleviate any discomfort you may feel and provide details on the procedure and follow-up steps. Because you may not remember the physician's recommendations or your discharge instructions due to the medication you received, we encourage your family or friends to meet you in this area.

Infection Control

As part of our Infection Prevention Team, our registered nurses make sure that each of our locations meets infection control regulations and standards. All of the centers’ equipment is cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Association of Professionals of Infection Control (APIC) standards for your health and wellbeing.
