Meet Dr. Adam Hafemeister

Dr. Adam Hafemeister is a highly skilled board-certified gastroenterologist with a focused expertise in colorectal cancer prevention, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) , inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver disease, and pancreaticobiliary disorders. With advanced training and significant clinical experience, Dr. Hafemeister is dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate care to patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal concerns.

Prior to joining Austin Gastro in 2015, Dr. Hafemeister completed his medical degree at the University of Texas at Houston, followed by an internal medicine internship and residency at the prestigious UT Southwestern Medical Center. He further honed his expertise with a fellowship in gastroenterology and liver disease at Wake Forest University, where he was honored to serve as chief fellow during his final year, a testament to his leadership and clinical acumen.

Throughout his training and career, Dr. Hafemeister has developed a reputation for delivering high-quality care in areas such as colorectal cancer prevention, managing complex cases of GERD, treating inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and addressing liver and pancreaticobiliary disorders with the latest medical and procedural approaches.

Dr. Hafemeister is well-versed in a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including colonoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). These procedures enable him to prevent, diagnose, monitor, and treat a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, providing patients with the most effective options for care and management.

When not caring for his patients, Dr. Hafemeister enjoys spending time with his wife and two rapidly growing children. He is an avid basketball fan and enjoys golf, mountain biking, and hiking in the Texas Hill Country. His passion for maintaining a healthy lifestyle extends to his personal life, and he believes in the importance of both physical and mental wellbeing.
