Meet Dr. Nicole D. Ferrante

Dr. Nicole Ferrante is originally from North Dallas and is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in microbiology. She earned her medical degree from Texas Tech University, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Ferrante completed her internship, residency, and gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. During her gastroenterology fellowship, she received her master of science in clinical epidemiology. Given her interest in pancreatobiliary diseases and complex procedures, she completed her advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at the University of Miami. Throughout her medical training, she has performed clinical research that was funded by both institutional and national grants. She has experience working with biospecimens, large healthcare databases, and national Veterans Affairs data, and has presented at national conferences.

While Dr. Ferrante takes care of all patients with gastrointestinal liver disease, she has special interest in pancreatobiliary diseases (such as pancreatitis and gallstones) gastrointestinal malignancies (such as cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, and colon cancer), colon cancer screening, polyposis syndromes, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus eosinophilic esophagitis, liver diseases (such as fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and primary biliary cholangitis), irritable bowel syndrome, and inflammatory bowel disease. She performs upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, enteroscopy, pH testing, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic mucosal resection, and luminal stenting.

Dr. Ferrante feels it is important for patients to understand all the possible options for the management of a particular disease, so that they may make informed decisions about their own health. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, dancing (salsa, bachata, two-step), and doing yoga. She is fluent in English and near fluent in Spanish.
