Allyson Gibson, ACNP
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Meet Allyson Gibson
Allyson Gibson is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner who brings more than 13 years of progressive clinical experience to Austin Gastroenterology. Originally from Fredericksburg, Texas, Allyson is a third-generation nurse who was inspired early in her career to advance her nursing knowledge and skills to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
In her early career, Allyson specialized in caring for critically ill ICU patients undergoing kidney and liver transplants at the UT Health Science Center in Houston, followed by the management of medical oncology patients in the Medical ICU at MD Anderson. Most recently, the bulk of her nursing practice has been in a nephrology private practice with a focus on AKI, ESRD, and liver and kidney transplantation.
Allyson is drawn to gastroenterology for its unique blend of acute interventional care and long-term disease management. She applies a patient-centered, holistic approach to caring for patients with complex acute and chronic GI disorders, helping them navigate their health journeys with comprehensive support and education. Her approach is rooted in building meaningful therapeutic relationships, empowering patients through education and shared decision-making, and ensuring seamless care coordination across specialties.
When she’s not caring for patients, Allyson enjoys running, hiking, and spending time outdoors in the Texas Hill Country. She treasures time with her family and her golden doodle, and staying connected to the Austin community she calls home.
