Shad Dabaghi, M.D.

Diplomate American Board of Internal Medicine
Certified Gastroenterology

Dr. Dabaghi is a native Texan from Huntsville, Texas. He obtained a B.A. from Yale University in 1971 and an M.D. from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1975. He completed his internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1978.

After four years of Emergency Medicine in which he became board certified, Dr. Dabaghi completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship in 1984 and served one year as Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Dabaghi has been practicing gastroenterology in Austin since 1985 and is active in professional organizations on a city, state, and national level. He has been chairman of Internal Medicine at Brackenridge Hospital (1989-91) and Seton Medical Center (1994-1995), Chairman of the Gastroenterology Section of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Brackenridge Hospital (1991-1995), and chairman of Gastroenterology of the Seton Network (1998-2001).

On the state level, Dr. Dabaghi has been President of the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy (1996-1998), TSGE delegate to the TMA (2000-2006), TSGE representative to the TMA Interspecialty Society Committee (1997-2006), and Chairman of the TSGE Legislative Committee (2000-02). In 2001 Dr. Dabaghi received the Marcel Patterson-Robert Nelson Award for outstanding service to the TSGE. The American Cancer Society (Texas Division) honored Dr. Dabaghi with the Advocacy in Action Award for Colon Cancer Screening Legislation in the 2001 Texas Legislature.

On the national level, Dr. Dabaghi served as Governor of Southern Texas in the American College of Gastroenterology (1996-2002) and won the Freshman Governor Award in 1998 in the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Dabaghi is a member of the Travis County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, and is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.
